Tis’ the Season

I feel as if I am the only person in the world excited for the upcoming NBA season.  With the new rule that players must be out of high school for one season before entering the draft, the young talent is going to get better.  And it helps that all of the fans get to see these guys play in college, and in return, hopefully the interest in the NBA will grow.

Here are my predictions for the upcoming season….

Most Valuable Player: LeBron James, Cleveland Cavaliers

Rookie of the Year: Kevin Love, Minnesota Timberwolves

Defensive POY: Ron Artest, Houston Rockets

Sixth Man Award: Louis Williams, Philadelphia 76ers

Most Improved Player: Elton Brand, Philadelphia 76ers

Coach of the Year: Nate McMillan, Portland Trailblazers

Eastern Division playoff teams, in order: Boston, Cleveland, Orlando, Detroit, Toronto, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Milwaukee

Western Division playoff teams, in order: LA Lakers, Houston, New Orleans, Dallas, Portland, Utah, San Antonio, Phoenix

I am going to say that the Celtics will once again beat the Lakers for the NBA Title in June.  I know, I know, the Kid is going out on a big limb with that one.  The Celts are just going to be dangerous come playoff time.  There is no way they are going to lose focus like they did at times last year.  And I’m not being a homer, but Rajon Rondo is going to be an elite PG in this league, and this season will be his coming out party….as long as he doesn’t take any shots.

LeBron, as good as he is, gets no love at all.  You can say people talk about him all the time and stuff but he never gets any hardware.  The guy averaged 30, 8, and 8 last year, and still didn’t win MVP.  WIth Mo Williams getting him the rock, his numbers are just going to get even better.  I am going to say he does 33, 8, and 8.

My guys to look out for this season that no one is talking about.  Al Jefferson (the guy is a complete monster, a 25 and 10 guy), Jason Kidd (the guy might average 14 assists a game this year), Jermaine O’Neal (a former MVP candidate looks to shake the injury bug alongside Chris Bosh), Andray Blatche (athletic big who will get a lot of clock with Brendan Haywood out a while), and Jose Calderon (probably going to average a double double with assists since T.J. Ford is gone and in Indy now).

look at my man Antoine Walker in the "Thriller" video

Here is a funny ass video of Charles Barkley from last year
